Can You Edit TikTok After Posting?

After a video has been uploaded, TikTok does not provide a clear way for editing. You can delete and reupload your video, removing the portions you did not like.

And if you like the video but dislike the caption, there is a quick method you can use that does not involve recreating the video. It is impossible to edit a TikTok video once it has been posted because TikTok has already shared the video with your audience.  If you then edit the video, it may become irrelevant to the initially interested audience.

To edit your TikTok caption after posting it, you must delete the video and reupload it. Many users want the ability to edit captions after posting a video, but TikTok has not yet implemented this feature.

Sometimes, once you’ve published a video, the caption may not be suitable or may havgrammaticalic errors, and you may wish to change it.

Workarounds For Editing A TikTok After Posting

Here are some workarounds you can do instead of trying to edit a video after posting. Remember that after the video has been uploaded, you cannot access the majority of editing tools, including the majority of visual effects used during the initial editing process.

Reuploading The Video

The most effective way to fix your video is to recreate it. This option will allow you to edit a clean video version, assuming you have access to the original file.

If you saved the original video, as you should, then editing your TikTok video is identical to posting. However, this time you will want to ensure that the editing of your work is exactly what you want.

Deleting The Video

  • Locate and launch the TikTok application.
  • Tap the “Me” icon in the lower-right corner of the display to access your profile page.
  • Select the video you wish to delete. This section contains private and public videos you’ve uploaded to TikTok.
  • Choose “Menu.” In the new popup window, you will see various icons.
  • Tap the Delete button, but you must first scroll to the right by swiping left.
  • Confirm the action by pressing the Delete button.
  • Reupload the original video and make any necessary adjustments. Only this time, ensure that the video has been edited to your liking.

Uploading The TikTok

  • Navigate to the Plus button on TikTok.
  • Locate the original video in your gallery and add it.
  • Add all of your effects and other VFX to your preference. Numerous stickers, sounds, music, texts, and other effects exist.
  • Publish your newly edited video once you are satisfied with the edit.

Downloading And Editing The Uploaded TikTok:

This is the most straightforward method for editing TikTok captions after posting a video. Follow the steps below to easily change TikTok captions and make minor adjustments to your videos.

To access your profile, click the “Me” icon in the lower-left corner.

  • Select the video to be edited.
  • Find a triple-dot icon in the menu’s sidebar.
  • You will have multiple options like sharing and saving the video
  • Choose “Save video.” Your uploaded video will now be saved in your gallery with all the applied effects, music, and filters.

  • Once you have saved your TikTok video, you can delete the uploaded version to prevent anyone from viewing it.
  • Click the Plus button and select your saved reel. Now you can make a few simple edits to your reel and reupload it.

Remember that the re-uploaded video will include a small TikTok watermark. It should not interfere with the overall video experience.

Use Saved Drafts:

This tip will help you edit your TikTok videos before posting them. It is quite simple! You only need to save the changes to your drafts during the initial editing. Thus, you can experiment with various effects before deciding on the final version you wish to upload.

This can be a useful tip for avoiding typos and errors in your TikTok captions before posting. Follow the instructions below to learn how to edit previously saved draughts.

  • Return to the “Me” icon.
  • Open “Drafts” to find all the videos you’ve saved. Choose the video you wish to edit.
  • Add and upload your final TikTok caption. You can also tap the back arrow at the top to continue editing your video.
  • Once you are satisfied with your edits, upload the file.

It is important to note that saved drafts are only visible to the user. If you prefer to plan and prepare before uploading, you may want to upload some drafts a few days earlier. This will give you enough time to make any necessary adjustments and upload a TikTok video that you are satisfied with.

Can I Edit TikTok Cover After Posting?

No. You cannot edit your TikTok cover after it has been posted.

A TikTok cover is more significant than many people may think. A compelling thumbnail will entice many readers to click and open your post. Therefore, taking the time to create the ideal TikTok cover will result in significantly more followers. However, you may occasionally make a mistake when creating a TikTok cover. Here, editing comes into play.

Why Is It Necessary To Edit Your TikTok Cover?

  • You have placed the incorrect cover and need to replace it.
  • You’ve developed original cover concepts. After posting, you may occasionally have more creative ideas for the cover.
  • A friend suggests an excellent idea, which you must implement.
  • If you see that the video’s cover is not attracting as many viewers as you had hoped, you plan to improve it.
  • Reworking on your past TikTok videos. As your TikTok following grows, you may want to work on your identity, which may involve changing some of your previous actions.
