Why This Error Occurs

Because Low Power Mode is designed to conserve the battery life of your device, you won’t be able to share images from your camera roll while it’s enabled. As a result, the notification that says “there was an error while preparing to share” will continue to appear on your screen. This is one of the reasons why you’re getting it.

In order to once again share or transmit images, you will need to off Low Power Mode in the Settings app of your iPhone. Your iPhone will be able to transfer photographs and videos without displaying the message “there was an error while preparing to share” if you turn this feature off.

A problem on your iPhone may be causing the issue. Before you can send data to the other device, the iPhone must prepare to share it; if there’s a problem during this stage, it may tell you that, “there was an error preparing to share”.

Fixes You Can Try

When using the Photos app on an iPhone, some users have reported that they receive the error message “There was a problem while preparing to share” when they attempt to share a photo. If you are one of them, have a look at the potential options that we have provided below.

Restart Your Device

Your first step should be to restart the device you’re using. There are times when the simplest of remedies is the best option, and there could be a momentary halt to the system at hand. Simply restarting your iPhone is the most effective way to fix this issue. What could be simpler?

On the other side, if the problem still exists, proceed with the instructions that are listed below.

Factory Reset Your Device

If a power restart doesn’t work, do a factory reset. A factory reset erases and restores your device’s settings. To make this work, you’ll lose all your data, but if it’s backed up, you’ll get it back. The settings app is the easiest way to factory reset the iPhone.

In order to restore the default settings:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Choose the General option.
  3. Simply navigate to the Reset menu and select the option to Erase All Data and Settings.
  4. At this time, you will be given the opportunity to back up your data. Erase after you’ve used the Back Up key.
  5. In order to validate the factory reset, please enter your passcode. After you have input the passcode and pressed OK, your iPhone will begin the deleting process automatically.
  6. After the reset has been finished, you should check to see if the error still occurs.

Check For Network Issues

Make absolutely sure that you’re connected to either a reliable Wi-Fi network or a mobile data (lte) network before you attempt to share images that are stored on your iPhone through any method. You could try disconnecting from your existing network or perhaps forgetting it entirely and then re-establishing a connection.

If you use 3G/4G/LTE/5G to share photographs from Photos, ensure sure the app can access Data. Unless they’re permanently stored, iCloud photos must be downloaded before sharing. Steps to enable Photos app Cellular data:

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Tap Photos.
  3. Tap Cellular Data.
  4. Turn On Cellular Data.

Continue on to the next step even if the issue still exists.

Turn Off Low Power Mode

You may extend the life of the battery in your iOS smartphone by using the function called Low Power Mode. Because of this, you are able to use fewer features on your iOS device; but, the amount of battery life you save is significant.

For instance, you might not be able to share photos from your apple library because doing so consumes an excessive amount of battery life; hence, you won’t be able to do this if you have Low Power Mode enabled on your device.

To exit Low Power Mode, please do the following:

  1. Go to the Settings menu.
  2. Touch the battery.
  3. Turn off the Low Power Mode setting.

After you have completed this step, you will be able to check to see if you are once again able to share photographs. You should no longer see the error notice repeatedly appear.

Make Some Storage Space In Your Device

Before you can share any images, you have to first download them from the cloud to the device you’re using, unless you’re going to share a link from iCloud. Users who are running low on storage capacity may encounter difficulties as a result of this.

Delete apps to free up lots of space. You can offload apps if you don’t need them all. When you unload an app, its data and files are deleted, but it remains on your iPhone. This removes its storage.

To offload a mobile application:

  1. Launch the Settings app on your device.
  2. Click the General button.
  3. Select iPhone Storage with a click.
  4. Keep scrolling down until you reach the Offload App button.
  5. Simply dump the app that you wish to offload by tapping on it.

Increasing the amount of storage space on your iPhone or iPad can prevent it from using the Optimize iPhone Storage feature automatically in order to preserve some storage space.

Update the Device’s Software

The capabilities of the Apple iPhone continue to expand and improve over time. The software found on the most recent iPhone models is surely updated, and as a direct result, so are the features found on the most recent versions of iOS. It’s always a great idea to update the software to the latest version that is available in the marketplace. This is particularly important when it comes to issues such as the one that says “Unable to Share.”
