Reasons Why People Can’t Hear Me On My iPhone

You are not alone if others on an iPhone call can’t hear you. It is really irritating that communication will interfere with the awful situation.

iPhone’s Microphone Is Damaged

If your iPhone’s microphone is damaged, the person on the other end may hear you less clearly. If the person on the other end can still hear you, but it’s not crystal clear, this may be due to an issue with your iPhone’s microphone. Your iPhone’s faulty microphone could be the result of excessive wear over the time of many months or years of use. Typically, there is no way to fix this, but you can bring it to an Apple repair store to see what they can do.

Some people conduct calls using AirPods or Apple EarPods, and the microphone on these headphones can occasionally malfunction. If people can’t hear you solely when you’re wearing headphones, there may be an issue with the microphone on the headphones. If someone can hear you using your iPhone’s microphone, it appears that your earbuds need to be replaced.

iPhone’s Dirty Mic

The mic at the bottom of your iPhone becomes clogged with lint and dirt particles, which is the most common reason for someone not hearing you during an iPhone call. In order for people to once again hear you, you must clean it up in an effective manner. Using an anti-static brush, lightly brush the microphone in the bottom left corner to remove the lint. You can check after completing each of the following steps:

  • Check that the microphone is not covered by the protective case.
  • If you are purchasing a new iPhone, remove the plastic protective film from the device’s front and back.
  • Determine if the microphone is congested or unclean. Whenever necessary, clean the microphone with a small, clean, dry, and soft cloth.

If people can typically hear you, then it is safe to assume that this is the cause. It is normal for your iPhone to experience software issues, so you need not be concerned.

Microphone’s Access to Apps

If you use an app such as WhatsApp, FaceTime, or Skype, ensure that it has permission to use the microphone; otherwise, it won’t be able to process sound when you talk into the mic.
